honestly, the mormons believe in some pretty cool hocus pocus shit. it makes for an excellent story, the way scientology makes a good STORY. but if this stuff could become a religion i don't see why we don't have people following the religion of Forgotten Realms. I'd fucking follow a FR religion.

Re: mormon jesus
Oh God this is the worst religious story ever. Maybe it only sounds good if it's the first one you've ever heard. But seriously, this is like Christianity + Scientology. JESUS ALIENS FROM SPAAAAAACE.
(PROTIP: American Indian's are not Israelite, they're Asian descent.)
(TRAINER TIPS: Black people were the first humans, not whitie. White skin is a mutation in cells)
(Insert Tab A into Velociraptor B: Marrying to one person on Earth != being polygamous in outer space)
You know who has an awesome religious story? Zoroastrians.
One day two parents, Pourushaspa Spitama and Dughdova gave miraculous birth to Zarathustra. He grew up into a man who preached to all of the polytheistic people that their gods were only parts of one great God, Ahura Mazda, who is uncreated and rules all things.
Mazda created everything and called all that was order and truth "asha" and all that was chaos and falsity "druj" (Kind of like the Force or Western terms "Good and Evil"). Ahura Mazda gives every being free will and the ability to choose between taking an active participation in good thoughts and deeds to bring happiness and chaotic thoughts and deeds which bring strife. (Is this all starting to sound familiar to some of you?)
Ahriman, or the opposing chaotic spirit to Ahura Mazda, will eventually be defeated and the whole universe will undergo a remaking. In that final renovation, all of the souls banished unto sheol (the pit of darkness) will be returned to Mazda and a savior (messiah, saoshyant, etc) will be in charge of saving Earth and reviving the dead. (FAMILIAR YET?)
I giant river of molten metal will engulf all evil and destroy it and then a battle will rage between those in heavens to rid it of evil. In the end, good wins and everyone is turned into a spiritual being devoid of body and they will not hunger or thirst nor bleed. The spirit beings will be made of light so bright shadows will not be cast by them. All of humanity will belong to a single nationality and speak a world language and use a world currency. (...)
While Ahriman goes about wreaking destruction, Mazda's great, benevolent, holy spirit (Spenta Mainyu) will go about creating.
If you haven't guessed by now, that's right, every single Abrahmic religion comes from Zarathustra. He's the original messiah, Abraham, Moses, Gautama Buddha, Krishna, Yeshua (Jesus), Muhammad, and the Bab are all influenced by him.

Re: mormon jesus
Oh fuck, you guys....
HINDUISM
Dear sweet sassy molassy.
The infinite, eternal Brahman, or Vishnu, sent out a lotus from his navel, from which Brahma came forth to create the world. In this world, Vishnu 11 (with one left) times descended as an Avatar, including as Narasimha, the Man-Lion and Vamana, the Dwarf Brahmin, and most famously as the at once wonderfully human and infinitely badass, Krishna(Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama)
He will return the final time as Kalki, who will ride around the world killing everyone who sinned with a sword.
All this and Tantric sex!!!
Best.
Religion.
Ever.
(Well, okay, Buddhism. But that's pushing the philosophy/religion divide)

Re: mormon jesus
@Buddhism: yes, especially when Siddhartha Gautama told them specifically not to worship him. And made a large point of being against religion. So I only accept it as a philosophy out of respect for the first Buddha.

Re: mormon jesus
Quite right.
The Zen sect gets the interpretation. One of their most controversial stances is that if one saw the Buddha on the road, that the best thing would be to kill him. Because his presence would be counter to your enlightenment.

Re: mormon jesus
I don't see how his presence should counter your enlightenment. If you're truly enlightened or on your way, nothing and no one can affect it. If you are not then it couldn't possibly hinder you more than you already hinder yourself.
This is dildos. Everyone knows religions doesn't exist.

Re: mormon jesus
"Followers of the Way of Zen, if you want to get the kind of understanding that accords with the Dharma, never be misled by others. Whether you're facing inward or facing outward, whatever you meet up with, just kill it! If you meet a buddha, kill the buddha. If you meet a patriarch, kill the patriarch. If you meet an arhat, kill the arhat. If you meet your parents, kill your parents. If you meet your kinfolk, kill your kinfolk. Then for the first time you will gain emancipation, will not be entangled with things, will pass freely anywhere you wish to go."

Clearly, he was speaking metaphoricly. My apologies if my reference was unclear.

Re: mormon jesus
Yeah I got that. But when taken out of context it certainly looks like the opposite of Zen.
